About the Stories

Every Family Has a Story

Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful milestones. It’s a time of joy, adjustment, and new responsibilities. But for many families, it can also bring difficult decisions about finances, employment, and time spent together.

For some parents, access to paid family leave provides valuable time to recover, bond with their newborn, and adjust to their growing family. For others, the absence of paid leave can mean returning to work sooner than expected, experiencing financial uncertainty, or sacrificing precious time at home.

At Moms for America, we believe the voices of women and families deserve to be heard in conversations about policies that directly affect their lives.

Through our work with the Blueprint for Life Coalition, we’re highlighting the real experiences of women in our network to help illustrate why greater support for parents and newborns matters.

Why these stories matter

Supporting Families When It Matters Most

The first weeks and months after the birth of a child are an important time for both parents and babies. Families are navigating recovery, bonding, new routines, and often significant financial adjustments.

Yet the ability to take time away from work after welcoming a child can vary dramatically from one family to another.

The experiences shared by these women demonstrate that behind every policy conversation are real families making real decisions about their futures.

By listening to their stories, we can better understand the challenges parents face and the opportunities to build a stronger foundation for American families.

POLICY PRIORITY FOR FAMILIES

Paid Family Leave

Time at home after a baby arrives lets mothers recover, parents bond with their newborn, and families settle into new routines – without having to choose between a paycheck and those precious first weeks.

POLICY PRIORITY FOR FAMILIES

Child Tax Credit

A strong Child Tax Credit helps families keep more of what they earn to cover the real costs of raising children – from diapers and doctor visits to childcare, so more parents can afford to grow their families.
